Hello
I’m Mark Humbert
As a twenty-year resident of District 8, I’m excited to serve our community on City Council.
I have served as president of the Claremont Elmwood Neighborhood Association, and as a commissioner on our city’s Transportation, Public Works, and Fair Campaign Practices Commissions.
As your Councilmember, I want to spend my time listening to and working with you and the rest of our neighbors. My priorities for our community are:
Ensuring public and pedestrian safety
Addressing our homelessness and affordable housing crises
Supporting small businesses in our neighborhood
I would be honored to earn your support.

About Mark
Mark with his family
After twenty plus years of living and raising my family here, I’m looking to further my commitment to giving back to our community. As your Councilmember, I want to spend my time listening to and working with you and the rest of our neighbors, to make sure everyone gets the city services they need.
Over the past decade, I have served as a transportation and public works commissioner, helping draft and oversee pedestrian and bicycling improvements, advocating for better street paving and infrastructure, and ensuring the City of Berkeley is spending our money sensibly on basic services.
As the former president of the Claremont Elmwood Neighborhood Association, I worked collaboratively with neighbors and city officials to ensure our neighborhood had a voice in city matters, including getting significant pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements designed and built along the Tunnel-Ashby corridor. I worked collaboratively with the CENA board to build bridges and reach consensus.
As Councilmember, my priorities will be to address our homeless crisis, ensure safety in our community (in all its aspects), support small businesses in our neighborhood, and help make Berkeley more affordable and sustainable.
I believe that together, we can make Berkeley a place where everyone can live and thrive.
